雑種致死

異なる植物間で交雑を行うと、雑種胚や雑種植物が致死することがあります。これを雑種致死と呼びます。当研究室では特に雑種植物に生じる致死性に注目して研究を行っています。

雑種致死は遺伝的に制御された現象であり、交雑組合せによって雑種致死が生じるか、生じないかが決まっています。これまでに、雑種致死はタバコの生育に適した温度で生じますが、雑種を高温で栽培することで回避できることがわかっています。

遺伝学や分子生物学的な手法を駆使した実験により、雑種致死の機構がある程度わかってきていますが、まだまだ未解明の点が多く残されています。引き続き、雑種致死が生じる機構などを明らかにするために研究を行っています。
